Mix and Masquerade

Atrium at the Cleveland Museum of Art I posted a photo of the new atrium at the Cleveland Museum of Art last summer (a couple months before it opened), and the picture fast became the most shared piece of anything I’ve ever produced.

It’s not an extraordinary image — just a quick peak over the wall. But the sharing fervor that ensued was symptomatic of one thing many of us don’t realize: we love and are proud of our world-class art museum. We like where it’s going and the idea that its trajectory could be exactly the direction our city is headed.

Well, let’s celebrate that feeling! The museum’s First Fridays series, MIX at CMA, continues on Nov. 2 with the first-ever public evening event in the Ames Family Atrium. And it’s a Masquerade!

Happy hour cocktails pour at 5 p.m. Then put on your mask (or collection-inspired costume) at 7 p.m. for MIX: Masquerade. Two DJs, an orchestra, mysteries and ghost stories will fill the galleries. Plus, the museum is open until 11 p.m.

MIX: Masquerade, Friday, Nov. 2, 5-11 p.m.
Happy hour begins at 5 p.m., Masquerade begins at 7 p.m. The museum closes at 11 p.m. Tickets are $7 for museum members, $14 for non-members. Reserved tickets are strongly recommended. Call 216-421-7350 or buy tickets online.
